How Yoga can be Helpful in Recovering from Kidney Disease?

Yoga has proven to be extremely effective in curing people who are suffering from chronic kidney disease. In the case of chronic kidney disease, a person’s kidneys cease to function normally and if left untreated then it may also lead to kidney(renal) failure.  Thus, it is extremely important to diagnose and treat kidney disease at the earliest. As medical science and Ayurveda has progressed over the years, there are various treatment options available for kidney patients. Curing kidney disease through Yoga, Ayurveda, and Naturopathy is the holistic option of treatment that many people are opting for nowadays.   • Ardha Matsyendrasana (Sitting Half Spinal Twist)

Performing Ardha Matsyendrasana (Sitting Half Spinal Twist) not only takes care of stimulating the kidneys but also builds up the body’s immune system. For a person suffering from any kind of chronic disease, it is important to have a strong immune system which would fight against any further diseases. This pose also strengthens the spine and increases the elasticity of the spine.

  • Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)

Bhujangasana(Cobra Pose) is a part of the sequence of yoga postures known as Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutation. Sun Salutation on its own helps a person stay healthy and is one of the most important sequences in Yoga.   • Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose)

As a person goes into the pose of ‘Bridge’, it stretches the abdominal region which helps in massaging organs such as kidneys. It also helps in keeping high blood pressure under control which is an essential part of kidney treatment.

In addition to all these poses, a kidney patient should also perform Kapalbhati Pranayama and Anulom Vilom Pranayama as it enhances the power of kidney and helps in curing the kidney disease. Pranayama also reduces the creatinine level in the blood of kidney failure patient.
